(back) Subject: console replacement From: "Kelvin Smith" <KelvinSmith@untraveledroad.com> Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 07:55:06 -0600   Hello all,   Friday night and all day yesterday I worked on my main swell and great chests to my new console. This puts me down to 9 ranks on the swell and 5 on the great. There is a unit flute that I have for a pedal 16'. I was hoping that I could get some pedal ranks hooked up too, but time kept flying and I didn't get around to it. I disconnected the old console and carried parts of it into the garage pushed the main part of it out of the way to deal with tomorrow. The new console is lots nicer than the old one. The key contacts are much more reliable. I love the Artisan control system I am using. It makes it a breeze to get things hooked up. I am all ready = to hook up a total of 34 ranks in the organ now.   I have a 4' principal in the swell which is too bright in tone quality. I have softened it a great deal, but I just don't like the tone quality. I = am sure it is on quite a bit more pressure than it was voiced for and I = assume it needs to have higher cut-ups. I have never done this before. Does = anyone have any advice for me before I get involved in this? What kind of a knife should I use? I am tempted to just use my utility knife. I don't have any proportional dividers, and haven't wanted to spend the money on those at the moment. I guess I could just measure it and accomplish the same thing. Any advice on how high the cutup should be? It is on about 5" pressure.   Kelvin Smith
