From: <GRSCoLVR@aol.com> Date: Wed, 24 May 2000 01:52:17 EDT   Rick--- HAHAHAHAAHAH,,,,,,strange you should mention that... Nope,,,not in the = back yard,,,but did spend over 25 years running one (steam locomotive) in my = home town here in conjunction with our short line railroad. Gave it up after = the above mentioned time,,,had over 10,000 miles in 6 mile segments up and = down the track,,,thats a LOTTA trips. <G> And just to keep on topic---every = steam locomotive had/has a blower, a steam jet in the bottom of the smokebox in front, and under the smokestack to lift the smoke and make a draft when = the engine is not moving to keep the fire burning nicely, with no black smoke, = and keep the Yuppies from pointing and screaming---"Pollution,,,Pollution---get the kids away" hahahahaha. Cheers, ---Roc

Did you need something specific from =   it? I dont believe that H-L ever made tracker action,,,or tubular pneumatic action (see Junchen Vol 1, under Hilgreen-Lane) but of course did invent their very own EP action, different than most, altho similar to Roosevelt action in some ways. My Spencer blower and some other pipe work came and will come yet from a Hillgreen-Lane here in Johnstown, PA. I'm curious how old this organ is.   Thanks, Eric

The State boiler inspector was here two days ago for the annual boiler certification. Has nothing to do with the pipe organ in the house though.   Jimmy

Just looking at all those parts and thinking, will it ever play? Well there are still a good 1000 pipes to install yet but thanks to a small Kilgen I bought with a Peterson SS relay in it, I was able to get a few ranks playing in a temporarily unified mode. It's amazing what beautiful sound can some from just a couple of ranks. I don't miss the Allen at all now.   Eric

I would love to have a blower = that could operate from the chamber. I know this sounds bad, but I have a 1/2 = HP Spencer sitting in the chamber with the pipes. I have yet to build a = baffle box around it, but you would be surprised how quickly you get used to the background noise it makes. If you would like to sell the Meidinger plus = the baffle box and starter that you have for it let me know.   Bart Kleineweber Chicago, IL prinzipal8@hotmail.com www.diyapason.pipechat.org/webpages/kleineweber/     ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
