(back) Subject: [Residence Organs] RE: [Residence Organs] Nazard From: "David Scribner" <david@blackiris.com> Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 22:20:04 -0500   >Could someone explain to me ..exactly what is a Nazard? in smaller unit >organs is a Nazard typically borrowed from another rank?   A Nazard is a flute that sounds at 2 2/3' pitch, i.e., an Octave and a Fifth above the fundamental. It "should" be an independent rank so that it can be tuned correctly. Nazards are sometime borrowed from a unit flute rank HOWEVER, since the 5th's in that rank are tempered the Nazard will not be a true fifth supporting the fundamentals harmonic series.   Hope this makes some sense to you - it has been a long day in "hell" = week!!!   David
