"Silly Servants"

(back) Subject: "Silly Servants" From: "Hugh Knapton" <knapton@superaje.com> Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 23:06:57 -0400   Hi List   Been away for an extended period. Saw a reference (perhaps I missed the thread) about a simple servant demanding lead be removed from pipes!   Thought that I should pass this on...   I am now aware of an organ (Mount St. Vincent, Halifax, Nova Scotia) where it is illegal for anyone to enter the organ chamber to tune or repair the instrument. Provincial safety regulations do not allow a worker (or anyone else) to enter into an area which is not readily accessible to rescue attempts.   The fine Casavant organ is fairing well, BUT IS NOT in danger of having a tuner die of a heart attack within its bowels. One can still service the console however.   Should this sort of bureaucratic nonsense spread, I would imagine that it will soon be illegal to tune or service most organs.   Danny! .. don't knock yourself out!   Hugh
