They can be accessed from the Opening Page of the list web site. - http://www.diyapason.pipechat.org - look for the "Articles from Archives" link in the Table of Contents on the left side of the opening page. Again I want to Thank Keith Zimmerman and John Haskey for their help in getting these articles put together and for their permission to post them on the list web site. David -- ********************************************************* David Scribner, Owner DIYAPASON-L - a mailing list for the owners/builders of their own home pipe organ mailto:owner-DIYAPASON@pipechat.org
(back) Subject: dog in the manger From: "firman1" <firman1@prodigy.net> Date: Tue, 8 Apr 2003 21:29:21 -0500 Hi, Perusing Church Organ Trader, I noticed a recently placed ad for an organ. They say they have a bid for $10,000, but are up for more interest. Then they say it will go in the dumpster! Bon Dieu, take your 10K and be happy! I hate churches like this! BAF II
(back) Subject: Re: [Residence Organs] dog in the manger From: <Kzimmer0817@aol.com> Date: Tue, 8 Apr 2003 22:41:45 EDT --part1_180.186dcec0.2bc4e269_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset=3D"US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Jon, I can't help but think that the person just forgot to delete that line = from the ad. I congratulate them on their offer of $10K. I played a 3 manual 27 rank Austin (1939/1974) in a church that was being replaced by a new 3 manual tracker. To my amateur ears, it was beautiful. = I was definitely "coveting" it, tho' it would have been a bear to remove. = Some New England company had offered a mere $2500 for it. I offered $3000, but = they got it. I can't get the organist to tell me who removed it. I would = like to get a few of the ranks from it. Anyway, it seemed a shame for that organ to go for so little. As John = says, they should take their $10K. Admittedly, I would resent it slightly (now = I would have sinned twice: first coveting, then resenting..... Thank God for = Grace!!) if I had placed a serious offer and had the person/church go out = and place more ads. O well. I hope to get going on my project after I do my taxes. Keith --part1_180.186dcec0.2bc4e269_boundary Content-Type: text/html; charset=3D"US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
<FONT SIZE=3D3D2 = FAMILY=3D3D"SANSSERIF" FACE=3D =3D3D"Arial" LANG=3D3D"0">Jon,

I can't help but think that the person just forgot to delete that line = from=3D20=3D the ad. I congratulate them on their offer of $10K.

I played a 3 manual 27 rank Austin (1939/1974) in a church that was being = re=3D placed by a new 3 manual tracker. To my amateur ears, it was = beautiful=3D .. I was definitely "coveting" it, tho' it would have been a bear to = re=3D move. Some New England company had offered a mere $2500 for = it. =3D20=3D I offered $3000, but they got it. I can't get the organist to tell = me=3D20=3D who removed it. I would like to get a few of the ranks from it.

Anyway, it seemed a shame for that organ to go for so little. As = John=3D20=3D says, they should take their $10K. Admittedly, I would resent it = sligh=3D tly (now I would have sinned twice: first coveting, then resenting..... = Than=3D k God for Grace!!) if I had placed a serious offer and had the = person/church=3D go out and place more ads.

O well. I hope to get going on my project after I do my taxes.

Keith
   --part1_180.186dcec0.2bc4e269_boundary--
