(back) Subject: Electro-mechanical! From: "Hugh Knapton" <knapton@superaje.com> Date: Mon, 17 Feb 2003 11:01:05 -0500   Hi   Someone queried Danny's reference to electro-mechanical the other day.   If memory serves me correctly ...   Electro-mechanical is the properly accepted term for what most of us know = as "DIRECT ELECTRIC" ... BUT .... the term "direct electric" (in form & term) is (or was ?) a trademark (patented) by Wicks.   It is the same thing as painters refering to paint thinner as "Varsol" (trademark of Esso, I believe).   For the record ... I have seen the organ that Danny has ... it is a 1 = manual tracker (mechanical action), but he is adding a bit via key contacts and various actions.   Hugh
(back) Subject: Question and update From: "danielwh" <danielwh@ns.sympatico.ca> Date: Mon, 17 Feb 2003 12:01:28 -0400   I since the other day have taken apart alot of my electrical connections = and stuff and doing a complete reorganization of the wiring and even relocated the converted former tubular pneumatic chest that I converted to = electrical magnets, this chest has 25 tubes coming out of it to the bottom of the = main pedal chest to activate the action.16' Bourdon While I am in the prelimanary stages of rehooking it up, I am open to suggestions on the best way to do thsi . I also moved the Lieblich Gedeckt bottom 12 notes chest to accomodate for the pedal chest action underneath it.. I also am in need of 12 DE magnets for the tenor C Octave of hte Lieblich Gedeckt. I plan on having this rank as a complete rank on a single stop using the 31 note chest for the middle C and up pipes , once I work the final bugs out of it.the Lieblich Gedeckt will be a Manual = stop,. Another thing i have is a Gang switch that has two switches utilizing the same bottom wires , I guess this swithc can be used for say an 8 and a 4 foot stop from one rank. Once I have my Power problems fixed . Will I be able to do this using that switch and not affecting the Vox rank.which is on its own switch. Is it possible, where i am using the same contact rail. I just dont want to have the vox doing the same thing I dont want to have power backing up = in the wrong places if that is possible to happen. I need suggestions. Answer when ya all get a chance. Thanks Danielwh p.s. thanks for all the responces from the other last few days       --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). (back) Subject: Danny From: "danielwh" <danielwh@ns.sympatico.ca> Date: Mon, 17 Feb 2003 12:09:08 -0400   Hey there I have been doing some reorganizing of the organ, making stuff neater and getting ready to accomodate for a complete rank of Lieblich Gedeckt = Pipes,. I just posted an update on the Residence Organ list   And yes Electro Mechanical is the proper term when explaining direct action = magnets when not using Wicks patented magnets . If you are coming to Nova Scotia, Just be careful of the roads, It has = been a bad winter Danny     --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Roads are not passable. At least you're used to this kinda weather up there. Good time for some tuning at home here.   Jimmy in Virginia
