(back) Subject: Wire Guage Question From: <Kzimmer0817@aol.com> Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2003 16:53:45 EDT     --part1_62.31d3c65c.2c2b65d9_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset=3D"US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit   List,   I will be rewiring my relay panels as well as the key switches/coupler assemblies in my console. I've thought that 24 guage wire is what is used = for this. I've seen some 22g wire in large spools listed for sale.   1. Is 22g wire OK for wiring the 10 contact relays to the reisner = switches? 2. Will 22g wire punch down into the Type-66 punch down blocks?   Or. . . should I purchase 24g wire?   Thanks, Keith   --part1_62.31d3c65c.2c2b65d9_boundary Content-Type: text/html; charset=3D"US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable   <HTML><FONT FACE=3D3Darial,helvetica><FONT SIZE=3D3D2 = FAMILY=3D3D"SANSSERIF" FACE=3D =3D3D"Arial" LANG=3D3D"0">List,<BR> <BR> I will be rewiring my relay panels as well as the key switches/coupler = assem=3D blies in my console.&nbsp; I've thought that 24 guage wire is what is used = f=3D or this.&nbsp; I've seen some 22g wire in large spools listed for = sale.&nbsp=3D ; <BR> <BR> 1.&nbsp; Is 22g wire OK for wiring the 10 contact relays to the reisner = swit=3D ches?<BR> 2.&nbsp; Will 22g wire punch down into the Type-66 punch down blocks?<BR> <BR> Or. . . should I purchase 24g wire?<BR> <BR> Thanks,<BR> Keith</FONT></HTML>   --part1_62.31d3c65c.2c2b65d9_boundary--
(back) Subject: New Resource Link From: "David Scribner" <david@blackiris.com> Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2003 17:59:59 -0500   List member, Jack Hardman has put together a web page about the use of Variable Frequency Drives for running 3-phase motors on single phase current. The page is at: http://www.members.cox.net/wurlitzer/VFDrives.html and it is also listed on this list's Resource pages at: http://www.diyapason.pipechat.org   I want to Thank Jack for making this resource available to all of us especially since i am going to be faced with running a 3-phase blower on single phase current.   David

Couldn't have been anything so prosaic as a loose wire... = =3D this sounds like your organ was haunted!! :-) ( the effects =3D you described must have been MOST impressive if you were there =3D practicing at midnight...! )       Harry Chase .. ..           ----- Original Message -----=3D20 From: Nelson Denton=3D20 To: Residence Organ List=3D20 Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2003 1:12 PM Subject: Re: [Residence Organs] Scarey     Yes it's most likely a return wire problem. Possibly it could be =3D somewhere on the relay as well.. However if you have spark suppression =3D diodes mounted separately from the magnets the common return wire on the = =3D diodes can easily get put on the wrong side of the power supply. Noisy =3D chaos will occur! Also a faulty diode can cause similar problems at =3D times. =3D20 I had a major problem like that 25 years ago with a big old Casavant =3D which had been moved some years before to a new church.. The organ =3D would go into a severe case of epilepsy when more than 4 notes were =3D held. Pipes sounded, shutters banged and the stops would violently turn = =3D on and off with a terrific ferocity. The cause was a loose feed wire =3D to the pedal chest that vibrated on and off whenever several pipes were = =3D played. - And a bad case of lousy wiring by the installer. =3D20 The hard part was finding the loose connection which was buried deep =3D in the bowels of the organ. I only saw it after 4 hours of searching. =3D The sparks flashed in the dark when the lights were turned off, just =3D as I was about to go home feeling total frustration. and failure. =3D20     --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. (back) Subject: Scary Update (not really scary anymore) From: "Paul Soulek" <pipeorganpaul@yahoo.com> Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2003 20:34:01 -0700 (PDT)   Quick update: electronics guy in town is going to take a look at it....says a diode got burned out, so there is no regulation of the power. We did, however, burn up four chips on the board (Motorola UL2804A / QEN9720 if you happen to have any around). I imagine Rodgers carries these (I sure hope). It helps to have an idea of what is wrong. Being puzzled is no fun!   Thanks for your help! Paul   __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
