(back) Subject: SAE Felts for Organ Use (Wurlitzer keyboard rebuild) From: "James Henry" <jimhen3ry@earthlink.net> Date: Wed, 26 Mar 2003 00:54:18 -0800   Has anyone tried using SAE-graded wool felts for organ rebuilding? These are a series of graded felt densities sold in a variety of thicknesses by industrial supply houses like McMaster-Carr. (See catalog page 3212 at www.mcmaster.com) Aside from being white or gray rather than red or = green, it would seem like SAE felts might be useful for those things that don't have a piano counterpart. The problem I seem to have is that I know what thickness I need and have some idea of the density but the piano felt sources just list felt by application and don't generally give much detail about thickness or density. One particular requirement I have at the = moment is for a felt strip to replace the one in the board that holds down the = back end of Wurlitzer keys. None of the organ or piano catalogues I've looked = at seems to list anything that would be right for this particular piece. Any good or bad experiences using SAE felts in organs?   Thanks, Jim Henry
