These were in separate = chambers, and the stops are over 10 feet apart with a wall between them. = The effect is successful, regardless whether the swell shades are open or = closed.   Greg Rister Pipe Organ Craftsmen Pomona, California   > > From: "First Christian Church of Casey, IL" <kzrev@rr1.net> > Date: 2004/05/23 Sun PM 09:32:42 PDT > To: "Residence Organ List" <DIYAPASON-L@pipechat.org> > Subject: [Residence Organs] 32' resultant > > I've been told and/or read several places that the two ranks for the > resultant need to be quite close together to work effectively, but I = don't > have any firsthand experience. > > Dennis Steckley > & A Six-Pack of Cats > > DIYAPASON-L: a Discussion list for owners and builders of their own > Residence Pipe Organs. > HOMEPAGE : http://www.diyapason.pipechat.org > List: mailto:DIYAPASON-L@pipechat.org > Administration: mailto:owner-DIYAPASON@pipechat.org > > >

(back) Subject: Home Organ Progress From: "Keith Zimmerman" <kwzimmerman@alltel.net> Date: Mon, 24 May 2004 21:14:40 -0400   Hey guys,   I guess I'm looking for a reason to post a message. Anyway, this evening = I reinstalled the pouch rails in my 3 rank pitman chest. I've had them up = on a couple shelves for several months with the chest shell and the other chests standing along a wall in the basement. I'm going to move them down the room in order to clear out an area of floor space that's about 12' = deep x 15' wide. This is the area in which the organ will be. Thru the wall = is a playroom of about 20' x 36' into which the organ will speak thru a = couple openings I will make thru this wall.   I was advised to paint the concrete floor to make it reflect sound better thru the openings into the next room. The walls in this space are covered with OSB. I may cover them with sheet rock or just simply paint them as well. When the organ is installed, I plan to erect a wall to separate = this organ space from the remainder of the storage area of the basement.   My Spencer blower is totally apart and repainted. The 2hp 3 phase motor = was professionally cleaned and refurbished. I'm planning on purchasing a Hitachi Variable Frequency Drive to serve as the phase converter and = switch.   Right now I'm just having a lot of trouble getting myself motivated to = spend time on the project. Maybe it'll be kind of like going on a diet - once = you see some progress in the right direction, it gives you added encouragement to get on with it.   I'm hoping to have the organ playable by Christmas.   At some point, I plan to set up a website in which I can post pictures.   Thanks, Keith
