(back) Subject: Chicago Theatre story From: Shirley <pnst@voicenet.com> Date: Thu, 14 Aug 1997 23:27:27   Hi, folks--   I kidded around about "Midnight Organ Supply" the other day.... it was a reference to the practice of secretly removing a rank of pipes from one organ and putting it in another. Usually, there was never proof enough that the rank that appeared elsewhere was lifted. It was a common but unnerving practice among theatre organs 20 years ago. Unfortunately, it appears that the practice still occurs.   Check out this URL: http://www.suntimes.com/output/news1/organ11.htm   It's the story of the Chicago Theatre's plight. :(   --Shirley
