Her aura filled the 2,000+ seat room and she is the only singer I have ever seen who sang with the piano lid all the way open, possibly because the other venues were much smaller.   Bill McRee

From: "Dr. Peter Pocock" <pgpocock@ix.netcom.com> Date: Sat, 19 Jul 1997 14:40:02 -0700 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"   Hi everyone,   I have just returned from a week-long conference in Houston of the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts (FUMMWA). Very glad to be home, but heading out again on Monday. On Monday evening Hector Olivera entertained us in his inimitable way on a Rodgers 950 (I think). He included in his program the Pasacaglia and Fugue in C Minor, his usual medlies of tunes, and a 15 minute improvisation on "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing." (A little too long, but very well done.)   On Wednesday evening David Hurd played a recital on the organ of St. Paul's United Methodist in Houston after a choral evensong by the choir. Does anyone know anything about this instrument, how old is it, who was it built by, etc. There was nothing given at all in the program about the organ.   Thanks to Shirley and David for handling the transfer of the list to the new server. I hope that you will all start posting again. Everything is working fine now, so lets "PIPE UP AND BE HEARD"   Take care,   Pete!   Peter G.
