(back) Subject: Los Angeles From: Shirley <pnst@voicenet.com> Date: Sun, 20 Jul 1997 14:03:42 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"   Due to the lack of interest, the Los Angeles-area gathering of PipeChatters originally scheduled for sometime between July 26 and August 2 has been cancelled. I received very few replies to my query .... oh well... summertime I guess.   Another question: We're interested in attending a Protestant church service on Sunday morning, July 27. While I am, of course, looking for a positive church experience for the family, I'm also looking for superb music. We will be staying in Pasadena, but will have "wheels". Any ideas?   Please respond privately to mailto:pnst@voicenet.com .   Thanks! --Shirley
(back) Subject: ATOS CONVENTION From: kwkeller@juno.com (KARL W KELLER) Date: Sun, 20 Jul 1997 21:19:11 EDT   Did any of our list members attend the ATOS convention ? I have been looking for some posts about the convention events. I did hear the annual meeting was somewhat eventful with a clash between some members and the ATOS Board. Any news on this ??? or other happenings ???   Karl Musica est Dei donum optimi
(back) Subject: Ocean Grove, ATOS, OHS, etc. From: Shirley <pnst@voicenet.com> Date: Sun, 20 Jul 1997 21:26:48 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"   Many of you have just returned from both the ATOS and the OHS conventions.   Who played, how were the installations, was it a well organized event? What was your most educational moment? What was the most fun? What would you like to see again?   Did anybody get to the celebratory event at Ocean Grove last Sunday? I hear there were something like 1500 in the choir....   Waiting with bated breath..... :)   --Shirley
(back) Subject: Homepage and Digest Instruction correction! From: PipeChat-Admin <admin@pipechat.org> Date: Sun, 20 Jul 1997 19:01:25 -0700 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"   Hi everyone,   The homepages are now all transferred and working nicely on our own domains website: http://www.pipechat.org/ We hope you will drop by and check them out, if you need instructions on list commands, they are all there.   When I sent out the original list commands for the new server, I made an error in the digest instructions. They should read:   To subscribe to Pipechat Digest please send email to:   requests@pipechat.org   saying in the body of the email:   subscribe digest pipechat.   You do not need to subscribe to the list first, or to give your name.   Thanks to the many of you who have given us positive support during the transfer over of the list to the new server, we appreciate it. Also, thanks for your patience during the recent transfer and especially the problems with Internic causing the outage on the net for about 24 hours. We hope you have all recovered from this and look forward to seeing many new posts from list members (especially those who have been quiet on the list). As our motto says: PIPE UP AND BE HEARD!   Take care,   Pete! "Pipe Up and Be Heard!" (back) Subject: Looking for music From: Steven Margison <mgcfngrs@anet-chi.com> Date: Sun, 20 Jul 1997 21:30:43 -0500 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit   I'm looking for the music to "Peaches and Cream Foxtrot" by, of all people, J.P. Sousa. Seems he occasionally wrote things other than marches. I have heard the selection performed and I think it would work very well on the theatre organ. |===================== Steve Margison =====================| |=== Staff Organist, Tivoli Theatre, Downers Grove, IL. ===| |Organs, Theatres, Ham Radio, Lots of things at my WebSite:| |===== http://www.anet-chi.com/~mgcfngrs/index.htm ======|
(back) Subject: The Ocean Grove Choral Festival From: Oboe32@aol.com Date: Sun, 20 Jul 1997 22:36:20 -0400 (EDT)   Dear All, The Choral Festival was amazing, aside from the few places where the 1600 sss just seemed to never end. The pieces were amazing, especially the Martin "When I survey"!! The Festival was well received to a crowd of 9500. It was packed, and the organ felt the heat. By the end of the evening, the organ and piano were not close to being together. As we say in the Grove, the organ slipped into KirnbergerIII again! The concert also featured amazing hymns such as, Love Divine, Crown Him With Many Crowns, and of course a rousing Doxology! There was also a wonderful calling from the Usher's March and Mr. Elgar. Mario Lombardo played with the 1st Violin from the NJSO in a very extended prelude and offertory. The overall effect of the congregation and the choir and musicians was just amazing!! We have a full season ahead of us, including Fred Swan coming up, so anyone who is interested in attending a concert, please come on down!   -Pete Isherwood
(back) Subject: Re: Ocean Grove, ATOS, OHS, etc. From: Mattcinnj@aol.com Date: Sun, 20 Jul 1997 22:57:08 -0400 (EDT)   Hi All, I sang in the choir at OG, Sunday. Besides the choir ... the place was packed with about 6,000 others. It was a moving experience .... to put it mildly when the full organ and full auditorium sang ( as loud as possible). It was also about 90 + HUMID degrees. I am looking forward to the next one and recommend to all to either attend or sing in the choir, if possible.
