(back) Subject: Organist search: Anyone want to move to Decatur, IL?? From: Richard Schneider <arpncorn@dave-world.net> Date: Sat, 27 Sep 1997 16:40:31 -0700   A few days ago, Michael Smith wrote:   >I posted yesterday some preliminary information >about the imminent vacancy on the organ bench >at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, New York >City.   A little closer to home:   I was informed when I went down to one of the churches I maintain the organ at that they are in the beginning stages of looking for an organist. The builder of the instrument in the church in question was discussed on this list a few months ago: Harry Kriisa, a local builder from Decatur, IL. The Church, First Lutheran in Decatur, was his home church and the instrument, built in 1964-7, was his "magnum-opus"; consisting of some 50-odd ranks across 3 manuals (with a "floating" fourth division) and Pedal.   In 1985, Yours Truly installed a new SSL Multi-Level Microprocessor-based Computer Combination Action system for the organ, complete with three programmible Crescendi (plus "standard") and programmable Sforz.   I know nothing of the details of salary scale or other responsibilities, although I am given to understand that the current Choir Director is planning on a one-year Sabbatical shortly, so it may be a DOM position, ultimately.   I would direct inquiries to:   WORSHIP AND MUSIC COMMITTEE First Ev. Lutheran Church (ELCA) 250 W. Decatur Street Decatur, IL 62522   (217) 423-7783   This is a large downtown parish in a community of 80K population. The ediface was built in 1964 with tremendous acoustics and was designed by the premiere architectural firm of Stade, Dolan and Andersen. If anyone knows the excellence of their work, one can easily imagine the success of this building.   I can provide a stoplist if EMAILED privately.   Just thought that some folks might appreciate the "heads-up"!   Faithfully,   -- / ^ ^ \ { (O) (O) } --------oOOOo--------U-------oOOOo------------   "Arp in the Corn Patch" Rich Schneider SCHNEIDER PIPE ORGANS, Inc.
