(back) Subject: lutheran/catholic liturgy and hearing aids From: "Thomas Haubrich" <haubt000@goofy.zdv.Uni-Mainz.de> Date: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 21:08:07 +0200   Dear list members!   The Society of absolute romantic Purists and the Association of intolerant neobaroque Fanatics, which i am presiding, has developed a new combination stop, which can easily be added to every sort of organ:   The new stop has the name "NIHIL NISI BENE", and, when pulled out, the eletronic hearing aids of anti-organ congregation members and musical intolerant priests are switched offline, and then the organist can play Messiaen, Ligeti, and so on, with all Chamades, Tubas and Bombardes without further complaints from the congregation or from the clerical staff...   As a second new stop, "Uni-Fonds off", your purchased Uni-Lux or Uni-Capital Financial Fonds are immediately electronical sold to your house bank, when this draw know is pulled out.     With best regards from Germany   Hieronymus Distelfink Chief Purist and President S.O.A.R.P.       (alias Thomas)
(back) Subject: FREE Orchestral Organ CONCERT/CHICAGO/SOON!!! From: TonyIn219 <TonyIn219@aol.com> Date: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 16:01:26 EDT   Just a note to let everyone know that there is a FREE Technics organ concert next Wednesday (April 22) at 7 p.m. at the William Tell (Holiday Inn?) in Countryside. It's that English Tudor-looking hotel on Joliet or Plainfield Rd just west of LaGrange Rd.   The featured organ will be the Technics FA100. It's the new two-manual console with the Bose-like sound system and a ported bass/subwoofer. The performer is Ollyn Callahan. Ms. Callahan has won many organ competitions and most recently toured for Yamaha. Now she's with Technics and she's supposed to be very talented.   I will be there, along with a couple of PIPECHAT buddies/theatre organists who frequent the Rialto Square, the Coronado and Beggar's Pizza.   My theatre organist friends Dessa and Virginia have said they might come along, too, now that they are once again on speaking terms.   Let me know if you plan to come. We'd like a head count so we can save some good seats. It's hard to sit in the back row and see anything.   I am 35 years old (but only look 35), very tall and extremely handsome, muscular and broad-shouldered, with long blond hair, a goatee, a gregarious personality and a big smile (at least that's what my AOL profile says!).   Hope everyone that can shows up we can rub shoulders with Chicagoland's pipe organ elite.   John Carrington Chesterton, Indiana
(back) Subject: Barry Baker At the Kirk... From: "Terry Charles" <tcorgan@ibm.net> Date: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 16:14:33 -0400   The Kirk Organ Series presents, for the very first time...the highly regarded Barry Baker in three performances starting this evening, Thursday, April 16, 8 p.m. - with concerts repeated on Friday, April 17, 8 p.m., and Saturday, April 18, 2 pm. All seating is reserved, admission is $7.00.   Hearing his practice session - the audiences are in for a real treat! He is getting every ounce of color from the 4/100 - and especially spectacular is his useage of the twin concert pianos connected to the organ.   Come to Florida - hear its best kept organ secret!   TC

(back) Subject: ADMIN POSTING - Policy & Procedures - All Read From: "Dr. Peter G. Pocock" <pgpocock@ix.netcom.com> Date: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 20:28:58 -0700   Hi everyone,   Once again things are straying away from what this list is about. A reminder -- This List concerns Pipe Organs and Related Topics -- That is topics that relate to Pipe/Electronic/Digital organs etc. It is NOT a place to post about any old topic you feel like. If you are not sure if something fits into our guidelines, please read them carefully, they are shown below, and also are available on our webpage at http://www.pipechat.org/ If you are still not sure if you should post something then send it to admin@pipechat.org and David or me will respond to you as quickly as possible saying if it should go tot he list or not.   Also, please keep quoting to a minimum, the effectiveness of your email is reduced dramtically if people have to wade through extensive quotes. In addition, please do not respond with message that are one-liners and waste list space, these are much better sent privately.   Remember, the reply to field on this list is set to the list, NOT to the individual making the orginal post -- so please THINK before you post -- prepare your notes thoughtfully and carefully to reflect your opinion, and under no circumstances "flame" someone else.   I have had the fortune to be away in San Diego the last few days, and then come home to sit down and read through the email, and see that much of it is either attacking someone else or saying very little. Please stop this immediately. It is NOT what PipeChat is about.   Regards,   Pete!   Guidelines and Procedures:   LIST PROCEDURES: This is a regular administrative posting, please retain for your records.     =========================================== LIST ADMINISTRATION, GUIDELINES and ETIQUETTE =========================================== ================ ADMINISTRATION: ================   To "Subscribe" to PipeChat send email to:   requests@pipechat.org   saying:   Subscribe PipeChat   To "Subscribe" to PipeChat DIGEST send email to:   requests@pipechat.org   saying:   Subscribe Digest PipeChat   Note: For Digest subscriptions, you do not need to subscribe to the general list first, just subscribe directly to the Digest. To "Unsubscribe" send email to:   requests@pipechat.org   saying:   Unsubscribe PipeChat     If you have any administrative questions on the services available from the list please send them to:   admin@pipechat.org   stating your question or problem and we will get back to you as soon as possible.   ====================================================== ETIQUETTE ======================================================   1. Be kind to one another.   2. Please respect other list members points of view, we are all individuals and entitled to our opinions, that's what makes life interesting :):)   3. One rule applies absolutely -- NO FLAMING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. The list owners will be reading each post and if we see flaming going on you will be warned once. If there is a repeat, you will be removed from the list.   ====================================================== GUIDELINES ======================================================   1. Have fun. (It's the only polite thing to do here)   2. Make friends. (How do you make friends? Listen to other people. Validate their thoughts and feelings. Be willing to tolerate and accept them as they are. Have fun.)   3. Learn tolerance. Discuss ideas, rather than judging people.   4. Maintain a sense of humor. There's nothing like a good slice of humor for breaking up a flame war.   5. Use lots of smileys and poses. It is difficult to read tone of voice. This helps the humor impaired.   6. If something someone has said upsets you, ask for clarification first without the use of emotional language. They may have been joking or they may even reconsider their comments.   7. If someone on the PipeChat mailing list has written something which distresses you, you can always privately ask Pete or David to pummel some sense into them :) Do not use up mailing list bandwidth doing so yourself.   8. Please do not use up mailing list bandwidth explaining Netiquette to those poor lost newbies. It's not what this list is about. If you must, do so privately.   9. When responding to a message, quote only the relevant bits. No one is going to want to read your message if they have to dredge through miles of previous messages. Besides, it wastes bandwidth.   10. Please keep signatures to around four lines long. 11. Members of this list are allowed to wander off topic provided what they have to say is interesting or humorous. 12. Mail is handled by the list server immediately. If there are any delays, we apologize, however, they are out of our control.   13. Please reply generally to the list. However, please consider wether it would be better to reply to the individual rather than the list, thus reducing list traffic.   14. What to post? Anecdotes.... sadnesses.... joys.... Anything you feel comfortable posting. You will soon pick up if the list is going to respond to your topic.   15. Please think twice before posting. For those who are not on Digest form, it is very easy to overlow their mail boxes, please be considerate of others on the list.   16. What not to post! Items that have nothing at all to do with PipeChat and its guidelines--e.g. Virus warnings, Church matters that are not music related or topics that are better dealt with by other lists.. If you feel uncertain as to the content of any email, please send it to the Admin address and we will guide you as to wether we feel it should be posted or not.   17. Finally, this is a place to enjoy yourself, feel relaxed about music, pipe organs, theater organs, church organs, electronic organs and church music. Make the list what you want it to be. And LOTS of HUMOR PLEASE :)   Dr. Peter Pocock List Administrator   Peter G. Pocock, D.M.A. WWW: http://www.netcom.com/~pgpocock/ E-mail: mailto:pgpocock@ix.netcom.com
