(back) Subject: Convincing the School...Please Help!! From: Kevin Cartwright <kevin1@alaweb.com> Date: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 20:09:11 -0500   Theatre Organ People:   Without telling anyone, I've been engaged in a little campaign to install a theatre organ in the 1000 seat school auditorium that will be part of the new Greenville High School building (opening next summer). I have had good reception to the idea, and many questions. So far, all they have is my opinion, and I've come to the point where I think it is best to do a little writeup for the "powers that be" about the following:   1. Revenue to be gained by using the organ. 2. Type of crowd that attends concerts. 3. How to get a [sell out] crowd to attend, AND/OR general positive community reaction. 4. General opportunities and advantages of having a theatre organ. 5. About other high schools with theatre organs and their many uses.   Please keep in mind that this auditorium will also be a "community stage" as well as it's main purpose. (By writing to me privately, I automatically assume you are giving me permission to quote your words in a persuasive letter [unless otherwise noted], and give your name and e-mail address for reference of the administration.)   Also, if anyone has a theatre pipe organ they would like to donate for a nice tax write-off, the school (represented by me) would be interested in the situation (Eastern U.S. only please, unless you can deliver). Any response to this subject would be greatly appreciated. As well, the principal of my high school was interested in the Dickinson Kimball situation. Anyone involved in that area (and any other existing school-theatre organ situations) would be welcome to send comments.   MANY THANKS,   Kevin Cartwright Greenville, Alabama kevin1@alaweb.com

Just wondering if you've had it for years and she's just now showing up, or have you only just gotten it and she tagged along. Also wondering if anyone has heard any mysterious music? It's hard to believe in ghosts, and truly I don't. But there are some mighty convincing stories out there. One of my best friends has two doozies about her old home place, which is 150 years old. She and her sister have themselves heard strange noises in the night, which they claim were NOT the groanings and creakings of an old house. If twas me, I'd be inclined to take the organ - and keep out a sharp eye for bench occupants. I imagine you already are! Karen
