I was kinda freaked out about the Franck (E = Major > Chorale) before my jury, but all went well this quarter. =3D) The hymn improv > was the easiest part... =3D)   I WISH I had a hymn improv! I was doing an Ernst Bacon piece and my page turner/stop puller pulled a Cromone during a nice slow, fluty part. Ack!   > Just wait till you're a senior and you have to start worrying about Recital > prep! =3D) Plus a major concert at church. Alas, it's what I love doing! = =3D)   Or a junior and have to start working about pre-recital juries. Blech. :P   Well, to all of us out there who have to deal with the evil of the Jury (probably conjured up by the anti-christ himself), here's to surviving.   Now GO PRACTICE!!!!! ;)   -Rebekah

(back) Subject: Pittsburgh Lutherans? From: "Alan Freed" <afreed0904@earthlink.net> Date: Thu, 16 Dec 1999 10:24:25 -0500   One of the sweetest young ladies of St. Luke's Church, Manhattan, one of = our performing arts folks, is on the road with ANNIE these months. Christmas will find her in Pittsburgh, Pa.   She'd love to know of an ELCA parish (or an LCMS one where she may = commune) that is solidly traditional, evangelical catholic, fine music, sacramental/liturgical. . . . You get the picture.   Can any Pittsburghers come through with a recommendation?   Thanks so much.   Alan

I believe there was a College in Northern Illinois who offered credit courses on this whole subject. Any and all suggestions would be gratefully received.   Thanks,   HD
(back) Subject: Re: MIDI 101 From: <flcg1018@mails.fju.edu.tw> Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1999 01:28:55 +0800 (CST)   Why not write to Westminster CHoir College, which is now part of Rider University in Princeton, N. J.   They have many workshops in the summer.... I don't have last year's catalog handy; but I think they had a similar workshop in years past...   And if they don't have one scheduled yet, you may be the one to inspire them to offer such a workshop! I think they have an 800 toll-free number.... They have a web site....   Let the list know what you find out...   Good luck!         Morton Belcher fellow pipechat list member     On Thu, 16 Dec 1999, Hugh Drogemuller wrote:   > Are any List members aware of Summer or other Workshops that provide a = well > rounded program on using Midi and sequencer installations, for the = organist > who all of a sudden, has all the bells and whistles that this technology > can give. > I believe there was a College in Northern Illinois who offered credit > courses on this whole subject. I am really pleased and a little suprised = because I have important academic exams at school this year and the pressure has been mounting resulting in my playing going down. Nevertheless I am = ecstatic as you can guess!!   Richard

Two excellent pastors of solid liturgical stance*, equally excellent music under cantor Cindy Pock. Recent Casavant, a tad aggressive for the room.   * One is Phil Pfatteicher, liturgical scholar prominent in the creation of = LBW. Stan Yoder Pittsburgh

We are proud of you and your accomplishments. Happy practicing to all List members, as well as rehearsing with all the vocal and instrumental soloists and choir members in the next 8 or 9 days..   Safe travels to all, and may your services and concerts go especially well from now on.   Hoping that I will eventually have the time, energy and computer accessibility simultaneously to write a review of Frederick Hohman's concert at the Cadet Chapel, West Point, from November 14th!   Pat Maimone Post Chapel, West Point, NY III/57 Aeolian-Skinner/Moeller/Gress-Miles   ___________________________________________________________________ Why pay more to get Web access? Reading your postings sure did bring back those ``lovely'' memories (and = -- how one `celebrated' afterwards)! BRAVO for a job well-done....and to Richard....a special hand-shake for the grade ``with distinction''!   Happy Holidays to all.   Be sure to check out the full-moon on December 22nd. It will be last = lunar event of the 1900s and will be the first time a full moon occurs on the First Day of Winter in 133 years and, will appear about 14 percent larger and 7 percent brighter!
