(back) Subject: Let All the World in Every Corner Sing From: "B. Durden" <brendadurden@franticorganist.com> Date: Mon, 29 Mar 1999 06:00:32 -0800   Hi, "Hey Bud, how about "Let All the World in Every Corner Sing"? i think it's Vaughan Williams" This is Vaughan Williams at $1.40 a copy. It is not easy for the poor organist. I once did it at a choral festival and played it as an organ duet for the accompaniment. It was pretty wild because Rodney Ickenberger from USC (not sure how to spell his name) changed the tempo in almost every measure and he could not be seen unless I leaned forward to look around my duet partner. Good luck, Brenda Durden The Frantic Organist www.franticorganist.com

Durden" <brendadurden@franticorganist.com> Date: Mon, 29 Mar 1999 09:38:03 -0800   Hi, Eventhough Pepper doesn't have it, does not mean it is out of print. I looked through my resources and couldn't find it. If it is out of print, the legal copy is to get permission from the publisher first and then copy it. If you don't know the publisher, you can call Library of Congress 202-707-3000 for info. (back) Subject: Information needed. From: Bob Conway <conwayb@post.queensu.ca> Date: Mon, 29 Mar 1999 22:05:59 -0500   Fellow Listers,   Today I found a1972 Russian Melodya LP of organist P.Sipolnieks playing the organ at the Riga Dom. Catalogue No. 33CM-02749-50   The music recorded on it was composed by Margers Zarins, and it gives his birthdate as being 1910.   The programme is as follows:   1: Concerto Innocente for Organ and Chamber Orchestra, with the Chamber Orchestra of the Latvian State Philharmonic, conducted by T. Lifshits 2: Variations on Bach, organist P.Sipolnieks, 3: Songs of Bilitis for mezzo-soprano and organ, performed by L.Daine, mezzo-soprano, and P. Sipolnieks, organ   I know nothing about the composer, other than the fact that he is a Latvian, born in 1910. The organist's name is a new one to me, and the mezzo -soprano is equally unknown to me. The sleeve notes are mostly in Russian and are also in another language, possible Latvian, - a typical Melodya sleeve.   The record is in good shape and carries some fine music, but I would like to know more about the composer, Margers Zarins, the organist, P.Sipolnieks, and the mezzo-soprano, L.Daine.   Does anyone on the list have any further information, or where I might look for it.   Many thanks for any other information.   Bob Conway
