(back) Subject: Organ repair/fundraising From: DRAWKNOB@aol.com Date: Sun, 10 Oct 1999 17:44:53 EDT   Hi everyone,   It's been awhile since I've posted anything ... my new position keeps me = very busy and I'm on my way out of town for a week as soon as I finish this.   As some of you may know, I play a 10 rank/2 man./EP McManis... which is in =   dire need of repair. Some leathers need to be replaced, the console needs = to be replaced with solid state technology, the pedal board needs to be = reworked or replaced, the pipework needs to be tonally finished (in the upper = ends), and the Trumpet needs to be totally revoiced or trashed all together (it = is extremely "BUZZY"). My question is: how does one go about rallying = support and raising money for such an extensive project and avoid coming across as = a whiny organist? Estimates have ranged from $10,000 to $60,000 (depending = on the work done). Keep in mind, the total organ (new) cost only $20,000.00 thirty years ago.   Any ideas?   John

He = is very active and helpful and his presence there would probably do a lot of good = with your church. I do not have his address here tonight. You could call the = AIO office in Houston at 713 529 2212 to get the latest information.
