I don't believe that my firings or anyone else's should go unchecked.... it's just that when you work in a system of "government" you can either rebell and get your butt fired, or you can work from within to instigate change. And furthermore, db, NO ONE should suffer what happens upon being sacked. This most recent time, my wife and I had moved half way across the country, made new friends, and became reacquainted with old ones. The firing was devastating not just to me but to my wife and to most of the congregation (except the folk group). The one "joy" I get from all this is, if the priest even utters one negative comment about me to another church, I'll sue hi *** right out from under him. OK is a right to fire state, but not a rite to libel or destroy reputation state.   ohmerstillinbartlesvillefeelingthefinancialpinchandtheextremelyhotweatherav= eraging112-115dailyforthreeweeksnow.   --- Bob Scarborough <desertbob@rglobal.net> wrote: > At 10:38 PM 8/31/2000 -0700, you wrote: > >Stephen Ohmer - fired several times, at the > >pleasure of the rector and pastor!<snip> > > ...and your numerous sackings somehow make this > "right", I suppose, and > others should suffer the same consequence just > because you have. But you have to be there to see it and be part of it!   If you haven't joined us in the past, you can find out how easy it is by looking at the PipeChat-L web page:   http://www.pipechat.org/   Looking forward to seeing you all there this evening!   Bob Conway ...
(back) Subject: Re: the Guild From: <Innkawgneeto@webtv.net> Date: Fri, 1 Sep 2000 15:30:10 -0400 (EDT)   on AAGO being equivalent to Bachelors:   Be that as it may, AAGO was not easy to attain. I was told when I was awarded the thing (by the person in charge of certifications), what I mentioned in the previous post.   I feel much better having worked so hard for an almost-Masters rather than having worked so hard for a bachelors=3Dequiv. Ok, so it's vain, but it's good for the psychology. That in itself must be worth something.   On the certification front, AGO does a wonderful service to organists/church musicians.   Neil

Jones" <gedeckt@usit.net> Date: Fri, 01 Sep 2000 19:49:29 -0400   As another AAGO, I can attest that the AAGO IS equivalent to a = Masters...the pink hood, the original mark in academia of the AAGO, was a master's hood. If it wasn't equivalent for all these years, wouldn't the academics have raised hell and defrocked us?   I, too feel that I passed because that year, 79, the test must have been easy.   NJ, A.A.G.O.

(back) Subject: Medinah Temple (cross posted) From: "Jon C. Habermaas" <opus1100@catoe.org> Date: Fri, 01 Sep 2000 21:25:49 -0500   Several people questioned the availability and specifics of the Austin = Pipe Organ. I have not been able to find out if the organ has actually been put =   up for sale. I do know when the present deal is finalized the pipe organ = is destined to become history as it will have to be removed as part of the renovation. The specifics of the organ: Austin opus 558, 1915, 5M, 96 ranks. The organ has 3 32' stops. I should imagine with the scaling of the =   pipe work required to fill that huge auditorium, it will be difficult to find a home for the complete organ and it may, unfortunately, be broken up =   for parts for the choice items with the rest relegated to the scrap heap. If anyone knows of a possible good home for the organ they should not = waste any time. The organ has two consoles, a 5M draw knob console and an all electric 4M tab stop console. I will try to get a webpage up within the next month with pictures and the complete stop list. Here is the address and phone # for Medinah. I could not find any internet references:     Medinah Temple AAONMS   600 N Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60611 (312) 266-5000   jch
