(back) Subject: Music for trumpet & horn From: "Thomas White" <tomwhite@hamptons.com> Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2000 07:58:27 -0400     Dear List   I am searching for arrangements for organ and two brass: trumpet and = french horn. These are the instruments. My Priest is looking to hear on = Christmas Eve but I am aware that this is an unusual combination.   Any help would be most apprecitated.   Tom White Christ Episcopal Church Sag Harbor, NY   Reply to : Doubltrump@aol.com
(back) Subject: Story From: "Chris Johns" <Chris_Johns@gmx.de> Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2000 15:27:28 +0200   Dear All   >...Professor Smith turns and informs the inquiring student, >"That is the electric song-leader."   Reminds me of a story told to me by a priest I sometimes play for. He was once asked by a young child in the congregation: "Sometimes you sing on = your own. And sometimes everybody sings. And sometimes nobody sings but there's still somebody singing: is that Jesus?"   (For those of you not familiar with the German way of doing things, it is common for the organist (sitting at the back in a gallery usually) to accompany him/herself singing antiphons, hallelujahs, responses etc. over = a PA system. I'd never com across this until I came over here).   Best wishes     Chris Johns Frankenstrasse 5, D-49082 Osnabrueck Tel/Fax +49 (0)541 528 2568 EMail: Chris_Johns@gmx.de

(back) Subject: Re: Story From: <CHERCAPA@aol.com> Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2000 13:23:19 EDT   Dear Chris, Well the old church that I belonged to many a year ago, A St, Mary's in Dickson city, Pa. has done that for years. In fact, the organist =   and choir master would even instruct the congregation as to what page = hymns were on when the congregation was to sing. It was a fairly large church = and it would be difficult to see the posting of the hymn numbers from all = parts of the church when that became popular after Vatican II.The organist, a Lorraine Kowrach Hutchins was a good friend of mine and I thought it was = an original idea of hers. (back) Subject: promised stuff (X-posted)and the Liturgy for the Gathering (Anglicans) From: <quilisma@socal.rr.com> Date: Wed, 06 Sep 2000 12:04:46 -0700   OK, I haven't forgotten ... the e-mail print-out are sitting on my desk. But I'm down, the secretary's down, the copy machine's down ... all that's left is for the little red truck to go down, and I won't be going ANYWHERE (grin).   Deon, as a special favour to me, would you do Henry Farmer's "Celebrated Mass in B Flat" at the noon Mass (grin)? I actually HAVE a copy, and I've DONE it a couple of times (with suitable cuts ... it goes on FOREVER). Maybe with Griesbacher Propers??!!   Cheers,   Bud

I know there was = one done by Vernon Handley and the Liverpool Phil (I think) on EMI, but that appears to have been deleted. It is the Fitzgerald Theater, (home of Garrison Kieller's "PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION) owned by Minnesota Public Radio. You might call them in St. Paul to find out how to get access to it.   The next theater organ is in the city of Hudson, Wisconsin, about 20 miles east of St. Paul on Interstate 94. It is at the Phipps Center for the Arts.   There may be one in Menomonee Wisconsin, another 30 miles east on I-94, = but I don't have any more information.   Charles Harder
