(back) Subject: organs in Orthodox Churches??? From: "Mr. Jan S. VanDerStad" <dcob@nac.net> Date: Tue, 11 Apr 2000 22:26:42 -0400   Good Evening, Lists   In the past couple of years there has been a major springing up of Orthodox churches here in the NYC metro area.   I for one, would like to know if organ use is part of the Orthodox liturgy or worship. I recently came across one church being constructed that had a decent size "organ loft" incorporated into the plans. I have a friend who is greek orthodox and she said in the Greek Orthodox church she attends no organ is used.   Does anyone on the lists know more reguarding use of the organ in an orthodox church?   Jan VanDerStad

Greek orthodox: some organ use, evidently.   There will probably be more use of organ as churches start to mix traditions (That's my guess).   Neil

I hadn't even thought about the air temperature causing tuning problems, I was thinking only of the temperature of the pipe itself, but when you think of it, it stands to reason. I learn something new every once in a while. :-) Luther

(back) Subject: Windows Help Needed! From: <MickBerg@aol.com> Date: Wed, 12 Apr 2000 01:29:11 EDT       If there are any Windows 98 geniuses out there, I need help to get two identical soundcards to work in the same computer, for my PC Organ = Emulator project. Can anyone help me? I've tried a lot of things, so I really need someone who is expert at this =   stuff. The soundcards are Creative Live! PCI cards. Thanks,   Mick Berg.

PCI cards.   I am guessing that the best people to help you are the staff at Creative. = I suspect that you will need custom drivers because of potential conflicts between two cards trying to use the same interrupts. The other = possibility I can see is to set up a network of two machines, and install one soundcard = in each, and transfer the data from one machine to the other. Truth to tell, = in the latter scheme, you would probably want three machines, a server, and = two clients, with the sound cards in the two clients, and the two clients as identical as possible. (Same model, same speed, same internals, same = speakers, etc).   Good luck.
