(back) Subject: Music for 2 Organs From: "Erik Johnson" <the_maitre@hotmail.com> Date: Tue, 07 Mar 2000 09:16:35 EST   Greetings All,   I have the "Ride of the Valkyries" ass well. It is a great piece but warning: it is not for the organ faint of wind! Also depending on when your concert is and the circumstances, I have heard =   an amusing rendition of "The Stars and Stripes" - Sousa with optional = third person playing cymbals! It's guaranteed for a laugh and a standing = ovation!   All the best,   The Maitre ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

(back) Subject: Theatre organs From: "Judy A. Ollikkala" <71431.2534@compuserve.com> Date: Tue, 7 Mar 2000 19:36:43 -0500   Hello Ric Veague, Jon et al: thanks for the info. re: Photo of George Wright at the console - I have received corrected info. from several sources, for those who are interested. The 5M Wurlitzer was in Richard Vaughan's studio where George Wright recorded, originally in ther Paradise Theatre, Chicago, and now in a private home in Phoenix AZ. The other two = 5M Wurlitzers still exist in Wisconsin (from Michigan) and Rhode Island (from Chicago). The Kansas City Midland Theatre does still exist, minus its bowling = alleys, and is now a performing arts center. The Robert Morton organ which was there went to a house, then to a pizza parlor in Solana Beach CA, and is now back in Kansas City Mo as part of the Convention Center, good news! = It was installed in 1990 by volunteers called Kansas City Theatre Pipe Organ Inc. Photos and a stoplist can be found at the Kansas City ATOS website at the following URL: http://www.sound.net/~kcatos The Empire Theatre in Kansas City MO has been gutted and slated for demolition. It is on the southwest corner of 14th and Main. Its Kimball organ is alive at a private home in Halstead KS, now a 3/18 mixture of Kimball, Wurlitzer, and new pipes. The Empire Theatre was originally called the Mainstreet Theatre, built in 1921 at a cost of 2 million dollars, seating 3200. Thanks to those who provided me with this info. Judy Ollikkala

(back) Subject: Toronto Organ Grinder Wurlitzer From: "ldpatte" <ldpatte@attglobal.net> Date: Tue, 07 Mar 2000 20:27:25 -0500   Hi Folks,   Does anybody on the list have an idea where the 3m Wurlitzer went out of The Organ Grinder restaurant in Toronto when it closed up a few years ago? I thought the guy from the adjoining restaurant (owned by the same company) said it went to another pizza & pipes place in the Philly area, but I'm not sure.   Thanks,   Dave C. London, Ontario
