Many of "Trash's" tubes are poor quality Chinese or = eastern European production. Sure, they'll give you a new one..at "their" option...when the original fails.   There are ample resources to order tubes off the Web. Some Russian tubes are OK, others are lousy. Most Chinese tubes are trash. Some of the Yugoslavian 6BQ5s and other power pentodes were surprisingly good...until Slobidan got that part of their country in a war and the tube plant got = bombed!   Leslie (and tube Allen power amp) owners: The 6550 of choice now is the Sovtek 6550WE. Take a look at their stuff on http://www.new-sensor.com. Won't last as long as the original Tung-Sols, of course, but at a fraction =   of the price, and a GOOD sounding 6550. The Chinese are putting out a fairly good 5AR4 these days, but avoid all their power pentodes...garbage.   DeserTBoB

I don't know what I was thinking. Must be all that dust from the large Moller I just worked on. The Motorolas work pretty well, and I have used the Sovtek's you mentioned. They are decent. We juiced up a Hammond C-3 with Groove-tubes once, but I wouldn't try it with an Allen. You might wind up playing a boogie-woogie offertory if it's a church organ. :) I had a catalog from a place that sold only tubes; you had to order $50 worth, but if you're doing a bunch it's worth it. (12AX7A's, 12AU7A's and 12AY7A's were $3.50 each) They are top names and come with a full guarantee. I'll try to dig it up, we've used them for years. Bob is wise--avoid Radio Hack for this stuff (cough cough..darn dust).   Chris (cough...sputter...hack) Malocheski
