(back) Subject: Re: Hymn Tune: St. Helen From: "Ed Brown" <edbroorg@webtv.net> Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 22:42:31 -0400 (EDT)   St Helen is in Hymns Ancient and Modern (1950) #400...such a beautiful tune...knew it as a communion hymn during my youth in the Caribbean. I still recall the old organist at All Saints Church in KIngston, Jamaica Mr Aubrey Black Sr. playing that hymn. Ed

We have just finished the most exciting Cliburn Competition ever here. The winners: Olga Kern age 26 from Russia and Stanislav Ioudenitch 29 from Uzbekistan. Their final concertos: Tchaikovsky No. l and Rachmaninoff No 3 respect. Exciting, wonderful performances. Dual gold medal first place winners! Just thought you all might like to know I think we will all hear a lot more from these wonderful players. Roy

From: "Jenny Setchell" <setchell@paradise.net.nz> Date: Mon, 11 Jun 2001 15:52:19 +1200   Hi pipechatters,   Just in case you are interested, the Christchurch Rieger website (www.nzorgan.com) is back online.. again apologies for any of you who tried to access it and couldn't. BTW, I am running another competition this month of a jigsaw puzzle featuring the organ, and correct entries go into a draw for a copy of one of the 2 cds made on it. Overseas entries always welcome, of course.   Cheers, Jenny   mailto:setchell@paradise.net.nz www.nzorgan.com Look out for the latest exciting CD from the Christchurch Rieger: Bonbons for Organ!.
