(back) Subject: Jelani Eddington's latest CD (X post) From: "KARL KELLER" <KKELLER1@stny.rr.com> Date: Fri, 28 Sep 2001 16:57:21 -0400   I had planned to post this on September 11th but decided to wait until a more appropriate time.   In June 2001 Jelani Eddington teamed up with an excellent pianist, David Harris, to record an new CD "FASCINATING RHYTHMS". The recording was done at the home of home of Michael & Karen Coup, Wichita, Kansas which is now home to the 3/19 Wurlitzer from the Miller Theatre ( then a 3/11 ) in Wichita and a Steinway ( model "B" 6'10" ) Grand Piano.   Jelani needs no introduction to our list members but David Harris may. David was born in 1970 in South Carolina and relocated to Kansas City where he began piano lessons. At age 18 he moved to Wichita where he furthered his piano studies at the Wichita State University earning 2 degrees. While in Wichita he "fell in love" with the sounds of the theatre pipe organ after hearing the 4/36 New York Paramount Wurlitzer installed at the Convention Center in Wichita. In 1999 David moved to the east coast where he is organist and choirmaster at an Episcopal church in Fairfield, Connecticut as well as using his musical talents in New York City.   Before my fist playing of "FASCINATING RHYTHMS" I was not sure I would like it as I am more inclined to take my theatre organ music "straight" without other musicians joining in. Well, much to my surprise, the Wurlitzer and the Steinway blended perfectly which makes this CD a real winner in my books. Two outstanding artists giving us an outstanding performance.   FASCINATING RHYTHMS contains the following selections: "Waltz in Springtime" by Jerome Kern "Fascinating Rhythm" by George Gershwin "September Song" by Kurt Weill "Give Me the Simple Life" by Rube Bloom ( solo organ) Medley from the movie "Singing in the Rain" "What'll I Do?" by Irving Berlin ( solo piano ) "Hoedown" by Aaron Copland "Taking A Chance On Love" by Vernon Duke "Overture from 42nd Street" "Night and Day" by Cole Porter "Varsity Drag" by DeSylva, Brown & Henderson "Grand Tarantelle for Piano & Orchestra" by Louis Gottschalk   I understand that this CD was available at the recent ATOS convention so I assume many of you already have purchased it. For those who would like this CD "FASCINATING RHYTHMS" it can be ordered from: R. Jelani Eddington Organ Concerts P. O. Box 923 Hoboken, NJ 07030-0923 The cost is $20 which includes shipping.   Regards to all,   Karl Keller
