The lady who plays the Kurzweil also plays offertories = on the piano and is quite a gospel/jazz improviser, whom the people love to hear. Of course, she gets more compliments that what I play on the organ, =   except when the regular pianist and I do duets. There are some of the = older people who love the organ, no matter what I play, and stay to hear the Postlude. As you can tell, we have all kinds of music every Sunday = morning and evening. We call them "Will Rogers" services: If you don't like the music, just wait awhile (a take off from Mr. Rogers saying about Oklahoma, =   "If you don't like the weather, just wait a while.") I once had a petit mal seizure right before having to get up to play the offertory duet with the pianist. As I become quite sleepy immediately following the seizure, to this day, I still don't know what I played. Luckily, the Synthesizer player covered for me. (this is the only time = THAT has happened). (back) Subject: Re: semi-new topic From: "Jonathan Orwig" <giwro@earthlink.net> Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2002 00:18:06 -0700   This a.m. I wrote about my woes with PowerPoint   Randy asks if I am responsible for that, too........ and if this is "words on a wall"   Yes to both, Randy.... I have far more duties than just musical.... I am Pastor of Worship.... we have dual screens that display the song words and the pastor's outline... we use all sorts of visual images - pictures, = video (yes, we have a license) and so forth.   Sometimes I'd like to do just organ, but this position pays me well enough that I can do it full-time... they get their money's worth, though, as I = am more a jack-of-all-trades program director than an organist choirmaster... besides... God called me here - what can I do... say no?   The alternative is to do something else full-time, be a part time musician... been there, done that, no thanks.   Best,   Jonathan     --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
