(back) Subject: Re: Saturday night binge - and HANGOVER From: "MusicMan" <musicman@cottagemusic.co.uk> Date: Sun, 15 Dec 2002 12:48:07 -0000   THIS Sunday, 'No problemo', just a double booking ! So had to call-in favours and have still to pluck-up courage and find out how things went in my absence,while I was playing Lessons and Carols - for = a different denomination ! This will happen at 4:00pm when I attend the Christingle service for the Benefice (and I'm STILL not sure what a Christingle looks like ....) Then it's off to Evensong - with Communion - at yet another church   HOWEVER, last Sunday, there was an after concert party - which went on - = and on - and I was the first to leave - at 5:00am - but spent the next few hours stripping a P.A. out of a marquee, before playing Advent Carols at 9:45am - can't live at that pace all the time. Silly me.   Still; I live a charmed life - and there were (few) noticeable accidents - obviously a case of "the devil looking after his own !"   Harry   -----Original Message----- From: echogamba@aol.com <echogamba@aol.com> To: pipechat@pipechat.org <pipechat@pipechat.org> Date: 15 December 2002 12:26 Subject: Saturday night binge     I wish I had stayed in bed this morning!!   I write this at 12:12pm, UK time, Sunday 15th December, feeling rather = light headed, and with a definite tremor!! The only one I've heard was at the Cathedral of St. Luke's - at the time it didn't impress me all that much, but maybe it was the player (as opposed to performer). I do remember several people telling me about a nice organ in the Lutheran retirement home high-rise.   Glenda Sutton gksjd85@direcway.com

We had a belated birthday dinner for Rick last night =3D96 he turned the = =3D big 50 this week. The house was over-decorated in the a la gaude fashion of the Northwest Florida Sutton clan. A small dinner party of 6, we did appetizers of havarti, gouda and pimiento cheeses, with two homemade dips and crackers, beers (Coors Light and Guinness Stout) and champagne (a la Moet e Chandon); my own zuppa of potatoes, green onions and ground sausage with homemade Italian herb bread and cornbread; succulent pork loin roast with orange-cranberry fruit; rice baked with saut=3DE9ed mushrooms, onions and parsley; broccoli and hollandaise sauce; bourbon sweet potatoes; a few bottles=3D92 cabernet of good vintage (even though pork IS =3D93the other white meat=3D94); and rice pudding topped with =3D whipped cream and cinnamon sugar for dessert with coffee on the side (Bailey=3D92s was proffered).   =3D20   Although my meager collection of holiday CDs were prepared to play and the piano was dusted, we did not a note of music.   =3D20   I have never binged on a Saturday to the point of being hungover at the organ bench at church the next morning. Whether one thinks of the organist position as a job or as worship, it just seemed inappropriate for me not to be at my best at church (thanks to the strict discipline of my Judeo-Baptist parents). Most of my adversities in playing had to do with health, my accident-prone nature, or the effect others or the organ had on me that particular day. And thankfully I have been able to hold liquor well and know when to quit (from my DUI defense days and all that training in extrapolation).   =3D20   Wondering what organ music everyone played at church today, and working on my happy Christmas family portrait while eating a sliced pork loin sandwich, I remain,   =3D20   Glenda Sutton   gksjd85@direcway.com   =3D20   =3D20     ------=3D_NextPart_000_0001_01C2A44D.E8D1DD20 Content-Type: text/html;
