Congratulations and have loads of serious fun for many years to come. Today I finished putting the pipes in place on my Li'l = Ol' 3-rank 1937 Moeller Artiste and fired it up for the first time since I got in mid May. It needs tuning, of course, but it's wonderful to have REAL PIPES at home, even in an Artiste incarnation!   Dennis Steckley "For I am possessed of a cat, surpassing in beauty, from whom I take occasion to bless Almighty God."     "Pipe Up and Be Heard!" I take my keyboard and amp with me when I'm playing for a wedding there. It DOES indeed keep me on my toes as the wedding rites are conducted in Greek.... = the priest has to give me hand signals behind his back so I know when to start =   playing! BTW, their wedding rite is one of the most beautiful.   Victoria Ceruti
(back) Subject: Gade and Franck dates From: <Robert_Lind@cch.com> Date: Fri, 19 Jul 2002 09:37:36 -0500       Re Gade dates per Malcolm Wechsler's fine OHS posting #4:   I bought the Wilhelm Hansen volume of Gade's "Complete" (not!) Organ Works = in the late 1970s and marvelled that he and Franck could have such a = different compositional slant and be exact contemporaries. Well, they aren't quite. = I believe the ONLY place one will find the birth date of 1822 for Gade is in = that Hansen volume. Everyone else says 1817.   It's always intriguing to note throughout music history the different = paths travelled by composers--some apparently so land-locked that they're = writing way behind the times, some holding on to the past out of preference, some = venturing ahead, and some making wild leaps in new directions. Today, of course, is = no exception.   Robert Lind     |--------+-------------------------> | | Malcolm | | | Wechsler | | | <manderusa@eart| | | hlink.net> | | | | |--------+-------------------------> >--------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | Subject: OHS Chicago 2002, 6/27/02 Posting No.| | 4 | >--------------------------------------------------------|         According to the printed program, Niels Gade lived from 1822 to 1890. John Henderson shows him as being born in 1817, five extra years he will have enjoyed. The dates in the program are those of Cesar Franck, which perhaps came to mind at the wrong moment.

The term <garage sale> comes (I guess) from the fact that many people display their stuff in their garage for customers to look at.   The minimum daily requirement of topicality - alas, pipechatters in the Sacramento area, there won't be any organ music for sale. :(   David Carter   --- "COLASACCO, ROBERT" <RCOLASACCO@popcouncil.org> wrote: > Are garages that hot an item that so many people > have sales on them!
