The original complex was a seminary and was primarily built with funds from = the same family that donated money for the splendid Corpus Christi Church in = the Bolton Hill section of Baltimore. By the late 1970's the seminary had died = a slow death by dwindling enrollment. The building has never housed a = parish. At the bottom of the hill, in front of the chapel sits a 1960's catholic church and school. Where the Charlestown chapel is an example of sumptuous =   beauty and richness, the parish church below is the extreme in ugly. So typical of the extreme disregard for history that the post Vatican II = church is known.     Steve Bartley Baltimore

He has done what will be = a first Organ recording for Reference Records, on the new Schonstein Organ = in Lincoln, Nebraska. I am writing 2,500 words for the booklet, to be = delivered by the end of this month. This company has international distribution, so will increase Felix's visibility somewhat. He has a five year contract = with Reference to produce one recording per year. I spoke with Hans this = morning, who says that one recording will probably be the complete Luebeck (father and son both - the Luebecks, NOT the Hells!). I am not sure that project = is public yet - I made reference to it in the review as an idea in the back = of Felix's mind, but I would not want anything said about any commitments to anyone. That should come from them.   By the way, the Trio was not No. 3, by which I guess you are thinking Trio Sonata No. 3. It is a lovely one-movement little trio written by Bach = before the Six Sonatas, even though it has somehow a higher Schmieder number.   Cheers,   Malcolm   ----- Original Message ----- From: "Glenda" <gksjd85@direcway.com> To: "'PipeChat'" <pipechat@pipechat.org> Sent: Wednesday, September 11, 2002 11:07 AM Subject: RE: Felix Hell - Catonsville, MD Sunday 9/8/02     > I am so glad to hear of Felix' expanding repertoire, and wish I could > have heard him do the Bach A minor, the Mendelssohn No. 3, and the trio > no.3, all beautiful works. > > I will get to hear Fred Swann, for the third time in my life, perform as > part of his final recital tour this Sunday at a newly renovated organ by > Tom Helms at First United Methodist Church, Pensacola, Florida. > > Has Felix recorded since I heard him last summer?
