(back) Subject: Re: small organs From: "John Foss" <harfo32@hotmail.com> Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 14:28:43 +0000   Dear List When in Athens last week I wandered into the RC Cathedral and asked if I could play the organ - the key was duly found and I was ushered up to the organ loft. I posted a note about it on PIPORG-L last week, but at the = risk of repeating myself, it seems ideally suited to the topic of samll organs. =   It is a fine building with superb acoustics and the organ is in the West gallery. Some work is in progress on the Pipe Facade - you can't really = call it a case - the builder is Mascioni, 1927, op 393,pneumatic action - excellent condition - Manual I Principale 8 Flauto 8 Dolce 8 Ottava 4 Flauto XII 2 2/3 Manual II Bordone 8 Viola 8 Voce Celeste 8 Cornon Camosio 4 Pedal Subbasso 16 Basso 8 Couplers II - I 16, 8, 4 I - I 4' = I - Ped II - Ped - Pedal 4' It fills the building with rich sound, partly = due to the intelligent use of couplers. It was obviously voiced with this in mind and is better, I think than unit extension in some ways. The soundboards are 71 notes with the couplers giving the top octave. If I = were to have a pipe division added to an electronic it would be something like this I would look for. www.johnfoss.gr       _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

"Special features" in that medium.   A good point was made by Lelia. She and we would like to see an organ recital along with a crawl. A few folks armed with digital camcorders (and the approval of the = organist and the venue!) could do this without too much difficulty.   The Post Production - what do you we do with all of that footage to make = it 'nice' enough for people to want to actually BUY it?   A great organ video is available from Allen Organ. "Howard Goodall's Organ Works" VHS $19.95 http://www.allenorgan.com/catalog.html   There is a plethora of pipe organ history in that single video to satisfy 'most anyone' on this list. P.S. The Sales Pitch is 'low key'.   The 'grand finale' is a Mander Organ in NYC.. ...go figure?   Stan Lowkis

I have purchased a solid state relay from Peterson's ( no, I don't work for them, lol) and have had good luck so far.
