That to me is the = height=3D of arrogance. If one doesn't approve the subject of a thread, there is = =3D always the delete key. =3D20 I have no desire to promote any brand of organ over another, and I don't = =3D think I have done so. I simply answered specific questions about the = bra=3D nd of organ that I own. I have no affiliation or interest in any organ = c=3D ompany. My interest is in organs, whether Pipes or Digital. No = particul=3D ar "brand" or type. They each have there place within the musical = commun=3D ity. =3D20 I must thank you for the put down in such a public place. It's good to = k=3D now that Gary Deboer is so eminently qualified to determine what is or = is=3D not relevant to the discussion. While I did resent the strong arm sales tactics employed by some = dealersh=3D ips, that was not the deciding factor. For me the potential builders = wer=3D e narrowed to 3: Eminent, Johannus, and Cantor. I chose Cantor for the = =3D very reasons you stated. 1. Cantor has met or exceded my expectations and = requirem=3D ents in every instance. Just wondered.   Gary,   In 1981, we took out a 1929 3 Manual Bennett organ which was one of the last ones built if not THE last which used to be in the Masonic Temple in Decatur, IL. It had been badly damaged by a steam main breaking in the ceiling above the organ and the Great and Choir Chambers getting a scalding shower.   The "Bennett System" was basically similar to Robert Morton's idea of building Windchests all the same and "ganging together" the requisite number you needed for any given organ specification; feeding them by means of a large plenum on the end of the chest. In the case of Bennett organs, they were Ventil Action (although they also built Unit varieties of these windchests) and were joined by means of "Union Boards" along the bottom edges.=20   At the end of these conglomerations of Windchest units were Primaries mounted to the end for the note action. The stop action was actually a Pitman style mounted in the Bottom Boards, even though the wind was fed to the chests as though they were meant to be the Ventil style of construction, except without the Stop Action valves!   The shells, bottom boards and actions were all mass-produced in three or so different sizes and really the only differences between one windchest and another was the number of notes it had and the diameter of the Rackboard holes!   It was actually a very clever concept and made use of mass production techniques. It's too bad that the Bennett market was such that such production techniques were never really necessary. An outfit like =C6olian-Skinner or M=F6ller would have far better benefited by the adopt= ion of such windchest-building techniques.   That is a somewhat simplistic explanation of the "Bennett System", but I hope it's reasonably clear. List Member Sand Lawn may have more to contribute.   BTW, the 3 manual Horseshoe console, complete with its original Reisner Stop Action Magnets is available for sale!   Faithfully,   G.A. =20 --=20 Richard Schneider, PRES/CEO SCHNEIDER PIPE ORGANS, Inc.
