This relatively small town is like organ Mecca in = this area. Most churches, it seems and is my opinion, try to outdo each other when it comes to organs. First United Methodist has a 7 year old Howell tracker, First Presb. has a 1949 Moller ( 1949 was a good year). lol Evangelic Covenant ( Swedish, and oh my you have to play the hymns there very s l o w l y ) has a Schantz from the "70's. Hampshire Colony Congo. has a 1974 Howell from the original Hook and Hastings (I think it was and = is where Virgil played as a young man. First Baptist is a 1970's Howell rebuild of, I am not sure of the make. First Lutheran has been done over (oh my has it!) from someone that I would sooner not mention. Anyway in my ramblings, what are opinions on this legend of the organ world ( they even have a plaque erected in his honor at City Hall)? Oh yes, Virgil is = buried in Dover, Illinois ( a wide spot in the road Northeast of Princeton) in = the small cemetery there. Thanks for listening. Gary

The world-renowned instrument = has grown from a 4/13 on opening night to a 4/29, and it has now been tonally finished. During Dennis James' most recent HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD silent = film tour across Australia in November, 2002 he was invited to record two = tracks for the Adelaide project. The first, Sousa's THE EL CAPITAN MARCH = celebrates James' appointment as the Premiere House Organist for the El Capitan = Theatre in Hollywood. The second, TUMBLIN' CHARLIE, is Australian composer = Herbert De Pina's tricky 1916 novelty piece written as a tribute to international silent cinema comedian Charlie Chaplin. With countless performances at theatres up and down Hollywood Boulevard = since his 1999 Hollywood debut, theatre organist Dennis James has carved a permanent niche for himself in Hollywood's entertainment history. = Following an extensive nationwide search, James was selected to debut the El Capitan = Theatre's Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ in 1999, and performing as the theatre's Premiere House Organist he has appeared before tens of thousands = enthusiastic patrons at the Hollywood landmark. Of James' performance of = the restored Paramount Pictures silent film classic PETER PAN, an El Capitan associate musician wrote in Theatre Organ Journal: "Dennis James played a meticulously prepared score . . . a complete sellout, rumor has it tickets = were being scalped outside the theatre for $100 a seat!" James also regularly brings solo organ-accompanied silent films to Hollywood's = restored Egyptian Theatre just a few blocks east of the El Capitan with his ongoing = series of Anniversary programs. Most recently he performed the original score to the Douglas Fairbanks classic, ROBIN HOOD- the film that = premiered the Egyptian Theatre in 1922. Now serving as Hollywood's International Ambassador of the Silent Film, Dennis James brought his international film screenings to Australia's = famed Sydney Opera House on January 31/February 1, a three performance series = that concluded with a sellout presentation of the German silent horror film NOSFERATU, A SYMPHONY OF TERROR in the Concert Hall during the closing = week of the famed Sidney Arts Festival. He has now been invited for a return series of presentations at the Sydney Opera House in early 2004 plus will tour throughout Australia and New Zealand in November, 2004. --part1_1e2.34a162f.2b904e97_boundary Content-Type: text/html; charset=3D"US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
<FONT SIZE=3D3D2 = FAMILY=3D3D"SANSSERIF" FACE=3D =3D3D"Arial" LANG=3D3D"0">Dennis James, Hollywood's Premiere Organist, has = recor=3D ded John Philip Sousa's THE EL CAPITAN MARCH plus Herbert de Pina's = TUMBLIN'=3D CHARLIE for Australia CD release.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Capri Theatre organ installation = in=3D Adelaide, Australia the South Australian Division of the Theatre Organ = Soci=3D ety of Australia is producing a double CD set of recordings by artists who = h=3D ave performed concerts at the organ. The world-renowned instrument = has=3D grown from a 4/13 on opening night to a 4/29, and it has now been tonally = f=3D inished. During Dennis James' most recent HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD = silent=3D20=3D film tour across Australia in November, 2002 he was invited to record two = tr=3D acks for the Adelaide project. The first, Sousa's THE EL CAPITAN = MARCH=3D celebrates James' appointment as the Premiere House Organist for the El = Cap=3D itan Theatre in Hollywood. The second, TUMBLIN' CHARLIE, is = Australian=3D composer Herbert De Pina's tricky 1916 novelty piece written as a tribute = t=3D o international silent cinema comedian Charlie Chaplin.

With countless performances at theatres up and down Hollywood Boulevard = sinc=3D e his 1999 Hollywood debut, theatre organist Dennis James has carved a = perma=3D nent niche for himself in Hollywood's entertainment history. = Following=3D an extensive nationwide search, James was selected to debut the El = Capitan=3D20=3D Theatre's Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ in 1999, and performing as the = theatre=3D 's Premiere House Organist he has appeared before tens of thousands = enthusia=3D stic patrons at the Hollywood landmark. (back) Subject: RE: Nigerian scam From: "Jeff White" <reedstop@prodigy.net> Date: Thu, 27 Feb 2003 23:58:59 -0600 I got three of these as well. What was most discomforting to me was the fact that i was the only one on the distribution. The first one was that someone was "on the lam" and needed to get their funds into an American account. "Just send us your full name and telephone number, but oh, yes, don't reply by email as I'll be "outted"...just fax it to me." I thought to myself, hm....must be fake. Then I got the 2nd one. Same instructions, different story. Then the = 3rd. Again, different story. So I'm thinking, gee, do I have the word STUPID tattooed on my forehead? = (I checked...I don't.) Just remember the old adage: If it sounds too good to be true, it = probably IS too good to be true! Jeff
