(back) Subject: Ernest M. Skinner Opus 598 [crosspost] From: <TubaMagna@aol.com> Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 22:56:19 EDT   Ladies and Gentlemen:   Does anybody have any specific information or personal recollections = of the Skinner organ formerly in All Saints Episcopal Church (once known as = All Saints Chapel of Saint Thomas Church) on East 60th Street in Manhattan? I know that it replaced Johnson's two-manual Opus 852 of 1897, = although I do not know if that organ was in the chancel or the gallery. The Skinner was apparently installed in the gallery in 1926, with the chancel organ (how many divisions?) added the following year. Does anybody = know the size of the Skinner, and if it was three manuals, was one of them = duplexed? Neither portion of the Skinner remains, and I am trying to put together a history of their organbuilding projects prior to 1962. An accurate = stoplist and specification would be ideal, but I realize that such documentation is frequently lost to the ravages of human disregard, as well as "cleaning = the files." Thank you in advance for any assistance. Sebastian M. Gluck New York City

From: "Bill Raty" <billious@billraty.com> Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 20:13:14 -0700 (PDT)   I have a Baldwin/COS (2m drawknob Galanti look-alike) in my home for practice. The middle D (D'?) key tension adjustment screw keeps getting loose (every month or so), causing the pedal to bounce the note after I release the pedal.   Suggestions?   Regards,   -Bill

Does the screw thread into wood or into metal?   If metal, you could go get some "Locktite" from an Auto Supply house and put it on the threads and that will keep the screw from loosening.   I'd suggest a Lockwasher, but then you won't be able to have any adjustment other than completely "slammed" down!   If wood, you may wish to either fit a threaded insert and Machine screw, especially if the screw seems stripped (turns easily) or go to a larger diameter screw if the spring hole will permit.   Good luck!   Faithfully,   G.A. -- Richard Schneider, PRES/CEO Schneider Pipe Organs, Inc. 41-43 Johnston St./P.O.
