(back) Subject: Matt Glandorf at Aeolian-Skinner, Hershey Theatre, OHS From: "MARAUDER" <kmoyer@marauder.millersville.edu> Date: Sat, 07 Jun 2003 00:51:48 -0400   > This message is in MIME format. A young guy comes along and asks the old man if he can sit there, and the old man says, "Sure, it's my wife's seat, but she won't be using it. But this is a GREAT GAME, and I WOULDN'T MISS THIS = GAME FOR ANYTHING!!" The young guy says asks whether perhaps the old man had a son or = daughter or even any grandchildren who could have used his wife's seat, and the old man repllies, "Yeah, but they're all at the funeral."   We'll, having grown up in Hershey and knowing this organ well, here's = an OHS event I wouldn't miss for ANTYTHING: Matt Glandorf, Curtis alumnus and now adjunct professor, is playing the following program at Hershey Theatre as part of the OHS convention on Monday night 23 June:   Jongen Sonata Eroica   Rachmaninoff: Vocalise (Glandorf's own transcritpion) Prelude in C sharp minor (also a Glandorf transc.) Prelude in G minor (trans. G. Federlein)   Wagner Liebestod (from Tristan und Isolde)   Dupre Alegro Deciso, from Evocation   plus a Symphonic Improvisation on "The Star-Spangeled Banner."   The standard practice of an "audience hymn" will be the Star-Spangled Banner as well.   Matt played part of the convention service at The Cathedral of SS. = Peter & Paul as part of the AGO Phila. last summer. He also played Phila. OHS back in 1996. He's back by "popular demand."   The Aeolain-Skinner at Hershey was contracted with Aeolian but finisehd after the A-S merger, likely by E. M. Skinner during the days when A-S divided the work load between Skinner & D. Donald Harison. Dr. Harry = Sykes, prominent organist in Lancaster, designed it. It's a four-manual organ such as one might find in any large church, not a theatre organ.   Jonathan Ambrosino will include this instrument as part of his lecture the following day.   Cordially,   Karl E.
