(back) Subject: interim organs From: "Randy Terry" <randy@stpetersrwc.org> Date: Sat, 08 Mar 2003 17:50:00 -0800   There are many occasions when a church needs an interim instrument, be it electronic or pipe. One luxury you do get if you choose a digital instrument is the use of a comprehensive, be it non-pipe, organ (examples such as the Crystal Cathedral with its pre-Ruffatti Rodgers, and on the horizon looms the enormous task of re-roofing the great choir in San Francisco's Grace Cathedral, when it will be necessary for the Aeolian-Skinner to be completely removed, at which times restoration of the chests and bellows will be completed as needed, and the final few mis-guided post-Harrison tonal changes that have not already been reversed will be carried out. The interim instrument is planned to be a very large Allen.)       --

He is a devout Roman Catholic who is constantly lamenting the = decline in music in many RC churches. Although he has a been a professional = musician his whole life, he only attends spoken mass at his parish because the only =   music they have is the "folk" group. He said that the guitars and drums = were destroying the mass. We looked at each other, and both said at the same time: "Weapons of Mass destruction"   running for cover............   Richard
