(back) Subject: Pipedreams archives and a not-so-slic motor From: "james nerstheimer" <enigma1685@hotmail.com> Date: Wed, 17 Mar 2004 01:41:34 -0600   I've been having a blast going through the Pipedreams archives. Check out =   October 2001's listings and find "The Joke's On Us". Hear what Guy Bovet makes that poor little Cliquot instrument do in his Noel de Moulin. Takes =   full advantage of those blazzzzing trumpets and that pooting Cromorne. There's also Sidney Torch at the Regal, Marble Arch and William Albright's =   "King of Instruments" played on the new Fisk in Yokohama. Is that piece = as difficult as it sounds? Douglas Reed's doing some crazy things with the pedals there!   We got the Great mixture back in and it sounds a lot better than it did. = It DOES blend better, but I think the quint ranks are still clobbering us. = It sits on top of a very dark but pure chorus. My theory is if we can get it =   to work well with an 8' flute (it's not bad now) we will have nothing to worry about. It does seem to fight a little with the Great 2' Octave. Can't blame it as stuff in this organ is really shoehorned in. We have a Sesqui in the Choir whose pipes at one point are nesting back-to-back with =   each other.   Is there any way that slic motors can be tweaked so they kick that = annoying little habit of theirs? You know, when they turn too far and push the slider half-way off? The unit governing our Great 2' does that intermittently and always during hymns.   jim   O):^)   St. Paul Episcopal Church DeKalb, IL 60115   _________________________________________________________________ Get reliable access on MSN 9 Dial-up. 3 months for the price of 1!
