(back) Subject: Felix Hell. Summer Recital Schedule From: <Hell-Concerts@t-online.de> Date: Sun, 21 Mar 2004 20:59:14 +0100     Dear listmembers and friends,   thanks go to Nikola Sizgorisch from Uiniversity of Pennsylvania for publishing Felix's upcoming performance on the mighty Austin at Irvine auditorium. That will most probably come out as a wonderful organ night. Felix did not yet decide on a program, but it will certainly be a kind of Organ Fireworks, just right for that instrument, at the end of the Wanamaker Organ Day.   Meanwhile I continue to receive mails and phone calls about Felix's program for the rest of the summer. It is all listed on his website, but with respect to those, who would like to have them listed here, I am glad to confirm Felix' latest schedule in the period of May/June/July/August, as it looks now.   Here it is:   May 2, 3 pm St. Teresa's Church, Staten Island, NY   May 9, 8 pm Martin-Luther-Kirche, Neustadt/Weinstrasse, Germany   May 14, 8 pm Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale, PA   May 16, 4 pm United Methodist Church, Berea, OH   May 21, 8 pm Christ Church (UCC), Bethlehem, PA   May 23, 4 pm Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Newark, NJ   May 26, 8 pm Methuen Memorial Music Hall, Methuen, MA   June 6, 7:30 pm First Presbyterian Church, Haddonfield, NJ   June 12, 7:30 pm Irvine Auditorium, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA   July 2, 8 pm Gedaechtniskirche der Protestation, Speyer, Germany   July 6 7:30 pm, Merill auditorium, Portland, Maine   July 11, 3 pm First Congregational Church, Littleton, NH   July 16, 4 pm Westminster Presbyterian Church, Buffalo, NY   August 1, 8 pm Epiphanienkirche, Berlin, Germany   August 2 - August 31: vacation in the Bavarian Alps   Some remarks to some of the venues:   May 2. This is Felix's second return (3rd recital) to a Romanc catholic church with a medium sized organ, built by Peragallo, and with a Pastor (Fr. O'Hara), who is so excited and knowledgabel about organ music, that it is the sheer joy to work with him.   The recital of May 9 is the opening recital of the weeks/months of culture in the German state Rhineland-Palatinate (Kultursommer Rheinland Pfalz), which takes place every year, going from May though October, with hundreds of cultural events, among them organ recitals on wonderful historical as well as on contemporary instruments.   The May 23 recital Felix choose as his personal celebration of his graduation from Curtis, in a wonderful cathedral, playing the IV-156 Schantz, which was the instrument of choice of two of Felix's compact discs. As this is a very dear to Felix place, I would like to encourage all of you, who would like to co-celebrate Felix' s career milestone, to join us for this event. Details you will find on the cathedral's website: www.cathedralbasilica.org   The recital of May 26 will be a kind of premiere. Felix will perform the Prelude and Fugue on B-A-C-H by Max Reger, first time in public.   Subject of the June 6 venue will be an Austin organ in Felix former neighborhood in New Jersey, which desperately needs a new console. The proceeds of that recital will go into the organ fund of the church.   The June 12 event is a dream, which became true only recently. Thanks go to OHS councellor Paul Marchesano, Nikola Sizgorich (U-Penn), and vice-provost Dr. Max King (U-Penn), who made this event possible.   July 2 is a return to a remarkable organ in Speyer, just 15 miles from Felix's hometown Frankenthal: a 5 manual, 98 stop tracker, built by Kleucker.   July 6 remarks Felix's happy return to the mighty Austin/Kotzschmar in Portland   July 11 will be a very intersting recital on a historical two manual Hook & Hastings   July 16: Felix feels honored to became invited to the 2004 OH convention. This recital is one of the convention recitals, performed on a 4-manual Aeolian Skinner.   Last, but not least, August 1, will be Felix's premiere performance in the capital of Germany, Berlin.   Thank you all for your attention   Hans-Friedrich Hell
