(back) Subject: Christ Church, Pensacola From: "Glenda" <gksjd85@direcway.com> Date: Tue, 21 Sep 2004 19:40:58 -0500   I talked to Ken Karadin via telephone this morning. The bell tower and facade caved in at the church, creating some major damage. Thanks to David for supplying the picture link:   http://www.christ-church.net/ivan.htm   Thankfully, the organ is OK - it was at the choir end of the church. Ken and Jean are without power, but have unpotable water and gas for hot water. The nearby Albertsons is up and running for their other needs. The church has power and phones.   I also heard from J.O. Love, whom many of you have met, via a phone call to his wife. They had fled the area to Perry, Florida, and had to take a long, long detour to get back to town. They are OK - no power, but phones were restored today.   David and Daniel had heard from Lynn Lauderdale. I could not find Charles Tucker of St. Paul Lutheran, and did not have time to try other organists and churches in the area. But the news is cheering - power was restored today to about 30% and phone service to about 60% of residents. The FEMA distribution centers increased from 5 to 10.   Tomorrow is another day.   Glenda Sutton gksjd85@direcway.com

(back) Subject: Re: Happy Happy!! From: "David Scribner" <david@blackiris.com> Date: Tue, 21 Sep 2004 19:51:33 -0500   Thank you all for your birthday wishes, both on the list and privately. I appreciate them.   I don't have much of a family at least in the "normal" sense but I do know that I have a very extended family in the members of this list. And the caring of the list members for each other was proven this past week when a couple of our members had to face the ravages of Ivan. The concern and prayers of all of you on the list helped them through some tough times.   Again THANKS!   David
